As I shared in a recent post, my recovery journey since experiencing an ischemic stroke on September 23, 2023, has come with its fair share of physical and mental challenges, especially in regaining balance and arm strength. Yet through it all, one constant source of strength and guidance has been my lifelong passion for reading non-fiction. From spiritual teachings to timeless personal growth books—even those written as far back as the 1920s—these works have deeply shaped how I approach recovery.
One of the most powerful lessons I’ve drawn from them is that success isn’t just about outcomes; it’s the progressive realisation of a worthy ideal. Every small step forward—whether improving my balance enough to walk unaided at home or slowly regaining movement in my fingers—is a victory. Embracing this mindset has helped me find joy and meaning in the daily grind of healing, even when progress feels slow or the path uncertain.
Despite setbacks, I remain fueled by the belief that each effort, no matter how small, brings me closer to wholeness. This journey is not just about recovery—it's a living testament to resilience, faith, and the quiet strength of persistence.
